What happened
The accident took place at Pesok View Point, in the hills near Darjeeling in West Bengal, around 10 a.m. on 6 February 2016, as the crew were on their way to film. Reports at the time put the number of injured crew members at about 12. A Press Trust of India report carried by the Gulf Daily News said three were badly hurt and one was in a critical condition, while a report carried by the Daily Tribune of Bahrain said the injured were taken to hospitals in Kalimpong and Siliguri and that no deaths were reported. We could not find later reports on the crew members’ recovery.
What the gang leaders said
MTV Roadies X4 was then being filmed with four gang leaders. Three of them posted on Twitter (now X) on 7 February 2016.
Neha Dhupia
Neha Dhupia, who had joined the show from Roadies X4 in place of actress Esha Deol, first asked fans to pray for the speedy recovery of the crew members who had met with an accident, and thanked them for their concern. In a later post on 7 February 2016, tagging @MTVRoadies, she wrote: “Everything is under control now and in the true #roadie spirit we set back on our journey. Ur concern means a lot to all of us!”
Rannvijay Singha
Rannvijay Singha, who won the first season of Roadies in 2003 and has been part of the show ever since, wrote on 7 February 2016: “Thanks for your wishes and prayers, we all are praying for our brothers who are injured, please keep praying for their speedy recovery.”
Karan Kundrra
Actor Karan Kundrra, a gang leader since Roadies X2, posted on 7 February 2016: “Thank you for your love and concern, some of us are safe and some are not please pray for them!”
