Quick answer: You book an Aadhaar appointment on UIDAI’s appointment portal, bookappointment.uidai.gov.in. You log in with an OTP sent to any mobile number or email address, choose an Aadhaar Seva Kendra and pick a free time slot. Where online appointments work
Online appointments are for Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs), the centres run by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). UIDAI says all its ASKs follow the online appointment system. ASKs are open on all seven days from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm and offer every Aadhaar service:
- new enrolment;
- demographic updates (name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number and email);
- biometric updates;
- document updates;
- downloading and printing Aadhaar.
Non-resident Indians can use ASKs too.

How to book an Aadhaar appointment online
- Open bookappointment.uidai.gov.in. This is UIDAI’s appointment portal. Do not use look-alike sites that ask for a “booking fee”.
- Log in with an OTP. Choose “With Mobile OTP” or “With Email OTP”, then enter your name, your mobile number or email address, and the captcha. Select “Send OTP” and enter the code you receive. UIDAI says the mobile number does not need to be registered with Aadhaar.
- Book the appointment. Follow the on-screen steps to choose the Aadhaar Seva Kendra, the service you need and the person the booking is for. This can be yourself or a family member.
- Pick a date and time slot from the slots shown as available.
- Confirm and save the appointment details. Save or screenshot the confirmation and take it with you to the centre.
Booking is free. You pay only the service fee, at the cash counter in the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. UIDAI says online payment of fees is still to be launched.
Rules to know before you book
- Limit: One person can book a maximum of two appointments a month, according to UIDAI’s Aadhaar Seva Kendra page.
- Who can book: You can book for yourself or a family member.
- Arrive on time with original documents. At the ASK, booked appointments and walk-ins are managed through a Token Management System.
- Changes: UIDAI’s guidance says you can reschedule by logging in to the portal with the same mobile number or email address you used to book, at least 24 hours before the appointment. If you can no longer go, check the portal’s options for cancelling so that the slot is freed for someone else.
Walk-ins and tokens
If you cannot find a convenient slot, you can walk in at a UIDAI-run Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Walk-in visitors get a token, and the last token of the day is issued at 5:30 pm. A booked slot means you do not depend on getting a walk-in token, which is why the original article recommended pre-booking. That advice still holds.
Documents to carry
The original article listed a passport, PAN card, ration card, driving licence, voter ID and school or college ID. Which document counts as proof of identity, address or date of birth is set by UIDAI’s list of acceptable documents on uidai.gov.in. Check that list rather than relying on an old one, and carry originals:
- New enrolment: An original proof of identity and an original proof of address. A passport, voter ID and driving licence are examples. For a child, take a document that proves the relationship with the parent, such as a birth certificate.
- Name, date of birth or gender change: An original document that shows the correct detail. UIDAI’s Citizen’s Charter allows the name to be updated twice, and the date of birth and gender once each.
- Mobile number or biometric update: Your Aadhaar number.

If you only need to change your address or upload new documents, you may not need an appointment at all. Both can be done online on myAadhaar (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in).
What changed since this guide was first written
The original article described an older UIDAI website. It told readers to use the “Aapka Aadhaar” and “Resident” tabs and the “Where to Enroll” page, and to look for centres marked with a red flashing dot. You then booked through a form with a “Fix Appointment” button and later cancelled using a token number. None of those pages exist any more. Appointments now run through the separate portal described above, and older UIDAI sub-sites, such as resident.uidai.gov.in, have been retired.
