UIDAI’s Aadhaar Seva Kendra page puts the number of centres run by banks, post offices, BSNL and state governments at more than 66,000. UIDAI also publishes a separate list of its own ASKs on uidai.gov.in.
How to find a centre with Bhuvan Aadhaar
Bhuvan Aadhaar is a map of Aadhaar centres built on Bhuvan, the geoportal of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It offers four ways to search:
- Centres Nearby: See centres around your current location on the map. Your browser may ask for permission to use your location.
- Search by PIN Code: Enter your six-digit PIN code.
- State-wise Aadhaar Centres: Choose your state, district and sub-district, and optionally a centre type. For example, some centres handle only demographic updates other than name, gender and date of birth.
- Search by Aadhaar Centre: Search for a specific centre by name.
Then use the Center Category filter to show only centres that offer the service you need:
- mobile and email update;
- name, date of birth or gender update;
- address update;
- biometric update;
- enrolment of a child under five, a child over five, or an adult.
Not every centre offers every service. In particular, not all centres enrol adults, so use the filter to avoid a wasted trip.
Open a centre’s details on the map and, where a contact number is given, call ahead to confirm timings and the services available.
How to find a UIDAI-run Aadhaar Seva Kendra
- Open the list of functional Aadhaar Seva Kendras on uidai.gov.in.
- Find the ASK in your city or district.
- Book a free slot at bookappointment.uidai.gov.in, or walk in and take a token.

What to take to the centre
- New enrolment: An original proof of identity and an original proof of address from UIDAI’s list of acceptable documents, such as a passport, voter ID or driving licence. For a child, also take a document showing the relationship with the parent, such as a birth certificate.
- Updates: Your Aadhaar number, and an original document that supports the change you want.
- Fees: Enrolment is free. A demographic update on its own costs ₹75, a biometric update costs ₹125 (free in certain age bands for children), and a download and colour print costs ₹40, according to UIDAI’s charges.
What happens at the centre
- The operator enters your details from your form and documents. Check them on the screen.
- Your fingerprints, iris and photograph are captured. Children under five give only a photograph.
- You receive an acknowledgement slip with your Enrolment ID (EID), or an Update Request Number for an update. Keep it.
- Track the status on myAadhaar (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in) or through the 1947 helpline.
The original article said the card would arrive by post within two to three months. UIDAI’s Citizen’s Charter now says Aadhaar is normally generated within 30 days for children, and within 180 days for adults, because adult enrolments may be verified by state authorities first. The letter is normally printed within 10 days of generation and handed to India Post. You can download e-Aadhaar as soon as your Aadhaar is generated. If there is no centre close to you
- Search by district rather than PIN code, and choose the nearest centre you can reach easily.
- For a mobile number update or a young child’s enrolment, ask your post office or postman about India Post Payments Bank’s doorstep service. It is available at selected post offices.
- If you only need to change your address or update your documents, you may not need a centre. Address and document updates can be done online on myAadhaar.
A note on the old “NPR states” list
An earlier version of this article listed about a dozen states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. It said these states were covered by National Population Register (NPR) enrolment and that residents should look for centres on the Census website. That advice came from Aadhaar’s early years. Today the Bhuvan Aadhaar state list includes every state and union territory, so use the same locator wherever you live.

Is there a fee to use the centre locator or book an appointment?
No. Both are free. You pay only UIDAI’s notified fee for the service you get at the centre.
Can I get Aadhaar at any centre?
Not always. Some centres offer only updates, and not all of them enrol adults. Filter by “Enrolment of Adult” or “Enrolment of Child” on Bhuvan Aadhaar to find the right one.
What are the timings of Aadhaar Seva Kendras?
UIDAI-run Aadhaar Seva Kendras are open on all seven days from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and the last token is issued at 5:30 pm. Bank, post office and other centres set their own timings.
