What happened in Darjeeling

The Roadies X4 team was filming in the Darjeeling hills in early February 2016. According to the reports published at the time:

• When: Saturday 6 February 2016, at around 10 a.m.
• Where: Pesok View Point, near Darjeeling in West Bengal, while the crew were on their way to the shoot.
• Injured: at least 12 crew members. A Press Trust of India (PTI) report said three were badly hurt and that one crew member was in a critical condition.
• Treatment: the injured were taken to hospitals in Kalimpong and Siliguri.
• Deaths: none were reported.

An earlier version of this article said the accident happened while the crew were “on the peaks to see the point” and described all 12 as seriously injured. Reports at the time described about 12 injured, three of them badly. The earlier version also quoted a statement attributed to the Darjeeling district police superintendent, and a news site’s account of local people helping the injured; we could not trace the original reports, so we no longer quote them.

Roadies X4 after the accident

Despite the accident, filming continued. MTV Roadies X4: Your Gang, Your Glory, the 13th season of the show, aired on MTV India from 20 February to 19 June 2016, with its journey taking the contestants through India and Bhutan. The gang leaders were Karan Kundrra, Neha Dhupia and Rannvijay Singha, with wrestler Sushil Kumar at the auditions. When Sushil Kumar left to train for the 2016 Rio Olympics, Prince Narula replaced him for the journey. Balraj Singh Khehra, from Karan Kundrra’s gang, won the season.
