Quick answer: PrivateVPN is still sold in October 2026. It is a small Swedish VPN, now run by PrivateVPN Global AB and owned since 2022 by Miss Group, a Swedish web-hosting group. It allows 10 simultaneous connections, has servers in 63 countries and offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. Its no-logs promise is a company statement: we did not find a published independent audit of it.

PrivateVPN Review

This review describes PrivateVPN from its own website and published reporting. We have not tested the service ourselves. An earlier version of this article reported speed figures and streaming results “as per our tests” and from unnamed researchers. We did not carry out those tests, so we have removed them. We have also removed the line saying “we trust PrivateVPN”, which rested only on a support agent’s reply.

About the company

  • Origins: PrivateVPN started in Stockholm, Sweden; our original article gave 2009 as its founding year. It was originally run by Privat Kommunikation Sverige AB under the privatevpn.se name.
  • Ownership change: In June 2022, Miss Group, a web-hosting group backed by the private equity firm Perwyn, bought PrivateVPN. Reports at the time said the founder left and day-to-day management moved to Miss Group’s team in Sweden.
  • Company today: PrivateVPN’s website names PrivateVPN Global AB and describes the company as Swedish-based.

PrivateVPN still sells itself as a simple, focused service rather than a bundle of extras. It is much smaller than providers such as NordVPN or ExpressVPN.

Pricing (as of October 2026)

As of October 2026, per PrivateVPN’s pricing page (US dollars including VAT; prices shown in India may differ):

Plan Price shown
1 month $9.90 a month
3 months $6.00 a month ($17.99 every 3 months)
12 months + 24 months extra (offer) $2.00 a month for the first 36 months, then $72.00 every 12 months

All plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee, the same apps and features, and unlimited bandwidth. The original article noted that there was no free trial, and the money-back guarantee is still the main way to try the service. The long-term price is a limited offer, so check the renewal price before you buy.

Features PrivateVPN documents today

  • Connections: 10 devices at once. The original article said 6.
  • Network: servers in 63 countries. The original article said about 150 servers in 60 countries.
  • Stealth VPN: disguises VPN traffic as ordinary internet traffic, for networks that try to block VPNs.
  • Kill switch: blocks internet access if the VPN drops, so your real IP address is not exposed.
  • Port forwarding and P2P: PrivateVPN has dedicated pages for P2P use and port forwarding.
  • Apps: Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and Kodi, with set-up guides for other devices. The original article listed router support for firmware such as DD-WRT, Tomato, pfSense and some ASUS models; check PrivateVPN’s current guides for your router.
  • Support: PrivateVPN says it offers live chat and email support and remote help through TeamViewer.

Logging policy

PrivateVPN says it does not keep logs of your internet activity or anything that could identify you, and that it applies this to both connection logs and activity logs. That is a strong statement. When we checked in October 2026, however, PrivateVPN’s site did not point to an independent audit that verifies it. Several larger providers have had their no-logs claims checked by audit firms. If independent verification matters to you, weigh that difference.

Streaming and torrenting

PrivateVPN markets its service for unblocking websites and for P2P file sharing. Streaming platforms block VPN servers from time to time, so any VPN’s streaming access should be treated as “may work”. Getting around a service’s regional licence can also break its terms of use. Torrenting through a VPN hides your IP address from other peers, but it does not make sharing copyrighted files legal.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • 10 simultaneous connections on every plan.
  • Stealth VPN for restrictive networks.
  • Port forwarding and P2P support.
  • Low long-term price and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Cons

  • No published independent audit of its no-logs claims that we could find.
  • Smaller server network than the largest providers.
  • No free plan or free trial.
  • Ownership changed in 2022, so older reviews describe a different company structure.

VPN legality varies by country. In India, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) issued directions in April 2022 requiring VPN providers to keep customer records for five years. Several large providers removed their physical servers from India in response. For a Swedish alternative with a different account model, see our Mullvad VPN review, and for a wider list see VPN software for Windows.
