Quick answer: NordVPN is still sold in October 2026. The service is provided by nordvpn S.A., a company registered in Panama, and is part of the Nord Security group. It covers 10 devices per account, offers servers in more than 220 locations and uses its own WireGuard-based protocol, NordLynx. Deloitte has reviewed its no-logs claims several times, most recently at the end of 2025. Buyers should also know that one of its rented servers in Finland was accessed without authorisation in 2018, which NordVPN confirmed in 2019.

This review is based on NordVPN’s terms of service, its App Store listing, reporting on its audits and its 2019 breach disclosure. We have not tested NordVPN ourselves. An earlier version of this article called NordVPN the “reigning champ” and ranked it “#1 among 78 other VPNs”, and said that “you won’t get any other VPN that works better”. We have removed those claims, along with streaming and speed results, because they had no named, dated independent source.
Who runs NordVPN?
- Service provider: NordVPN’s terms of service name nordvpn S.A., with an address in Panama City, Republic of Panama. Its App Store listing names Nordvpn S.A. as the seller.
- Group: NordVPN is part of Nord Security, which also makes other privacy and security products.
- Payment companies: The original article discussed why US customers saw a US company, then called “Cloud VPN, Inc.”, on their card statements, and concluded it was only a payment collector. NordVPN’s current terms say payments are handled by different companies depending on where you live; for example, US and Mexican customers are mainly billed by Lagosec, Inc. in Delaware, and UK customers by Moonflash Limited. The contract for the VPN service itself is with nordvpn S.A.
Plans and pricing
We could not read NordVPN’s pricing page during this check, because it blocked automated access. NordVPN is sold only as a paid subscription; its App Store listing says users must buy a subscription to use the app. With VPNs generally, longer plans are cheaper per month for the first term, and the renewal price can be higher. Check NordVPN’s website for current prices, the refund terms and the renewal price in your country before you buy.
The original article quoted $3.49 a month. That 2020 price is out of date and has been removed.
Features NordVPN documents today
NordVPN’s App Store listing in October 2026 lists these features:
- Server network: thousands of servers in more than 220 locations. The original article’s figure of 5,200 servers in 65 countries is out of date.
- Protocols: NordLynx (built on WireGuard), NordWhisper and OpenVPN. The original article also mentioned IKEv2/IPSec.
- Double VPN: as the original article explained, this sends your traffic through two VPN servers, encrypting it twice. It adds privacy but usually slows your connection.
- Blocking tools: protection against scams and phishing, plus tracker and ad blocking. The original article called this feature CyberSec; that name no longer appears in NordVPN’s App Store description.
- Dark Web Monitor: alerts you if your login details appear in leaked data.
- Devices: 10 devices per account, with router set-up for covering a whole household.
- Specialty servers: reporting on the 2025 audit lists Double VPN, Onion over VPN and obfuscated servers among those Deloitte examined. Onion over VPN is the “VPN into Tor” option the original article mentioned.
Privacy, audits and the 2018 server breach
NordVPN says it does not log what users do while connected. It has backed that claim with repeated outside reviews:
- Deloitte no-logs reviews: According to Tom’s Guide, NordVPN has completed six no-logs assessments since 2018. The latest was carried out by Deloitte Lithuania between 10 November and 12 December 2025, under the ISAE 3000 (Revised) assurance standard. It covered standard VPN servers and specialty servers, and concluded that NordVPN’s systems were in line with its no-logs statement. The full report is available to NordVPN customers through their account.
- 2018 server breach: In October 2019, NordVPN confirmed to TechCrunch that one of the data centres in Finland where it rented servers had been accessed without authorisation in March 2018. The attacker got in through an insecure remote-management system left by the data centre provider, which NordVPN said it had not known about. The original article mentioned “reports of security breach last year”; this is that incident.
An audit shows how systems were set up when they were checked. It does not guarantee how the service will behave in future.
Signing up
The original article described a three-step process, which still applies: choose a plan on NordVPN’s website, create an account and pay, then download and install the app and sign in. The app can update itself automatically. NordVPN offers help through its support centre, email and live chat.
Torrenting, streaming and India
The original article said torrenting and P2P are allowed and that most US servers unblocked Netflix. A VPN hides your IP address from other peers, but it does not make sharing copyrighted files legal. Streaming services block VPN servers from time to time, so treat any streaming claim as temporary.
In April 2022, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) told VPN providers to keep customer records for five years, and several large providers removed their physical servers from India. Check NordVPN’s server list for its current Indian options. VPN legality varies by country.

VPN is usually quite fast to connect and stable. There have been occasions when the connection dropped and I had to reconnect, but that is the exception rather than the norm. Video streaming is also pretty stable and fast. It is easy to set up and use and most importantly provides me with peace of mind knowing that I’m using a VPN while surfing.
