How the release date moved

The film was first scheduled for 22 December 2016. It was moved to 12 May 2017 at the request of the producers of Raees and Kaabil, which were due around the same time. In early December 2016 the date changed again, to 1 September 2017, and that date held. (An earlier version of this article said the new date was tweeted by director Milan Luthria; published records credit the announcement to Ajay Devgn.)

Filming began in Mumbai in August 2016. The second schedule started in December 2016 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, which is where the on-set pictures in the original version of this article came from, and the Rajasthan schedule wrapped in March 2017.

As the original article noted, Baadshaho brought Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi together for the second time after Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), which Milan Luthria also directed. It was also Emraan Hashmi’s third film with Luthria, after Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and The Dirty Picture (2011), and Ajay Devgn’s fourth. Emraan Hashmi and Esha Gupta had earlier starred together in Jannat 2 (2012), which was Esha Gupta’s debut film. What the film is about

The story is set in Rajasthan in 1975, after the declaration of the Emergency. The government seizes the gold of a former royal, Rani Gitanjali, and sends it to Delhi in a specially built armoured truck. Gitanjali’s loyal aide Bhavani Singh gathers a small team, including Dalia and a safe-cracker known as Guruji, to take the gold back while the truck is on the road.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Baadshaho opened with about ₹12.60 crore nett in India and collected about ₹43.30 crore over its opening weekend. Its India total was about ₹78.10 crore nett (₹108.47 crore gross), and its worldwide gross about ₹125.44 crore. Reviews were mixed, but the film was a moderate commercial success. The soundtrack, released by T-Series on 19 August 2017, included a recreated version of “Mere Rashke Qamar”.
