Quick answer: Accreditation management software falls into three groups. Higher education institutions use Weave or SPOL to prepare for institutional and programme accreditation. Accrediting and certification bodies use ARMATURE Fabric, OpenWater or Submittable to run applications, reviews and audits, and Credly to issue digital credentials. Healthcare, public safety and quality teams use Accurate Accreditation (surgery centres), PowerDMS (public safety agencies), Ideagen Quality Management (formerly Qualtrax) and DocTract to keep policies, standards and evidence audit-ready. Start from which side of accreditation you are on.

Top Accreditation Management Software

Accreditation is a continuing, independent check that an organisation meets a set of standards. Universities are accredited by regional or programme bodies, hospitals and surgery centres by healthcare accreditors, laboratories against standards such as ISO/IEC 17025, and police agencies by public safety accreditors. Each cycle demands evidence: policies, training records, self-studies, data and audit findings. Accreditation management software keeps that evidence organised so a review takes less time and fewer people.

We first published this list as “Top 15 Accreditation Management Software” in 2020. When we checked every product again in October 2026, two product websites no longer existed, one product had merged into another company on the list, and two could not be verified. Qualtrax is now part of Ideagen. The list below keeps the 10 products we could confirm.

How to choose accreditation management software

  • Which side are you on? An institution seeking accreditation needs evidence collection, self-study writing and standards mapping. An accrediting body needs application intake, reviewer workflows, site-visit scheduling and decision tracking.
  • Your accreditor’s standards. Ask whether the vendor already maps its templates to your accreditor (for example a regional higher education accreditor, a surgery centre accreditor or a public safety standard), which saves weeks of setup.
  • Policy and training records. Many accreditation findings come from outdated policies or missing staff sign-offs. Tools with policy distribution and attestation tracking close that gap.
  • Collaboration. Self-studies involve many contributors. Check role-based permissions, comments, version history and reviewer access.
  • Data and reporting. Higher education tools should connect to assessment and student data; quality tools should link audits to corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Pricing. Almost every vendor here sells by quote. Ask about implementation fees and how pricing scales with users, programmes or sites.

The 10 accreditation tools in detail

1. Submittable

Submittable is application and grant management software that organisations use to launch, manage and measure application-based programmes, as the original article described: accepting, reviewing and deciding on applicants in one place. Its website now leads with grant management and corporate social responsibility, but the same application-and-review workflow is used for accreditation and certification programmes; Submittable quotes a senior accreditations programme manager at HubSpot among its customers. The website of WizeHive, maker of Zengine (listed separately in our original article), now redirects to Submittable.

2. Ideagen Quality Management (formerly Qualtrax)

Qualtrax was a compliance platform popular with testing and forensic laboratories. The Qualtrax website now redirects to Ideagen Quality Management. Ideagen describes one platform for document control, corrective and preventive action (CAPA), audits, training, supplier quality and inspection, with standards including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 11, AS9100, IATF 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025 (the standard used to accredit testing and calibration laboratories) built into its workflows. As the original article said, it helps with both internal and external audits.

3. Weave

Weave Education makes accreditation software for colleges and universities. It supports institutional and programme accreditation through assessment, curriculum mapping, programme review, administrative review, general education and strategic planning. The original article’s description of course planning and programme review still fits; Weave says it serves programmes, institutions and accreditors.

4. SPOL

SPOL brings planning, budgeting, assessment, credentialing and accreditation into one connected system for higher education. It covers strategic planning, aligning operations and finance with goals, programme evaluation, faculty qualifications and course alignment, and accreditation management, including the self-study documentation the original article mentioned. Its website is now spol.com.

5. OpenWater

OpenWater is application and review software for associations, foundations and higher education institutions. Its platform covers awards, abstracts, speakers, grants, fellowships, scholarships, general applications and accreditation, with configurable review workflows for judges and reviewers. As the original article noted, it is built for demanding application processes rather than general document management.

6. Credly by Pearson

Credly, now owned by Pearson, is a digital credentialing platform. Certification providers, professional associations, training providers and employers use it to issue verified digital badges for skills and achievements, and employers can view workforce skills data. It suits accrediting and certifying bodies that want to give holders a verifiable, shareable credential rather than a paper certificate.

7. DocTract

DocTract is policy management software. It handles policy writing and review (including AI-assisted features), distribution, staff attestations and training on new or revised policies, and it serves healthcare, education, financial services, manufacturing and construction. Up-to-date, acknowledged policies are a core accreditation requirement, which is why it belongs here. The original article also described contract management; DocTract’s current site focuses on policies.

8. Accurate Accreditation

Accurate Accreditation’s “Accreditation Assistant” is a web-based, customisable software suite for ambulatory surgery centres. The company says it follows the guidelines of accreditors including AAAHC, The Joint Commission, Quad A, ACHC and DNV, plus CMS rules and state regulations, and it also offers credentialing services. As the original article explained, the aim is for staff to know exactly where they stand and what is needed before a survey.

9. PowerDMS by NEOGOV

PowerDMS, now part of NEOGOV, is software for public safety agencies. Its products cover policy management, standards and accreditation management, microlearning, scheduling and on-the-job training, so agencies can publish policies, collect sign-offs, track training and gather proof of compliance for accreditation. The original article described it in general terms; it is now clearly focused on the public sector.

10. ARMATURE Fabric

ARMATURE Fabric, from ARMATURE Solutions Corporation, is cloud-based software for accreditation, certification, audit management and continuous quality improvement. It is used by accreditation, certification and conformity assessment bodies, by organisations seeking or maintaining accreditation, and by standards developers. It manages data collection, workflows, non-compliance issues, tasks and stakeholders; one customer quoted on its site uses it to write its accreditation self-study.

Removed since our earlier version

  • WizeHive (Zengine): the WizeHive website now redirects to Submittable, which is already on this list, so we have merged the two entries.
  • Jura (Indigo Interactive): the product and company websites no longer load, so we could not confirm Jura is still available.
  • AccreditASC: its website address no longer resolves, so we could not confirm the product is still available.
  • Surglogs: its website blocked our automated checks in October 2026, so we could not verify its current products. Surgery centres can contact the vendor directly.
  • Jetpack Accreditation Management: its website showed a blank page, and we could not confirm the product is still sold.

Frequently asked questions

What is accreditation management software?

It is software that helps organisations prepare for and maintain accreditation, by organising standards, evidence, policies, training records, self-studies and audit findings, or that helps accrediting bodies manage applications, reviews and decisions.

What is the difference between accreditation and certification?

Accreditation usually recognises that an organisation or programme meets standards (for example a university or laboratory). Certification usually recognises an individual’s or product’s competence or conformity. Many of the tools here support both.

Can a general document management tool do the job?

For a small organisation, a well-organised shared drive and a checklist may be enough. Dedicated tools add standards mapping, reminders, attestations and audit trails, which become valuable when several people contribute evidence or when accreditation cycles overlap.

How long does implementation take?

It varies with the number of standards, programmes and users. Ask vendors for a realistic timeline based on customers similar to you, and plan to start well before your next accreditation visit.

For related software, see our guides to policy management software and admissions and enrollment management software for schools and colleges.

Product details were checked in October 2026 against each vendor’s official website. Product names and ownership in this niche change often, so confirm details with the vendor before you buy.
