Quick answer: Policy management software stores an organisation’s policies and procedures in one place, routes drafts for review and approval, keeps version history, sends policies to staff and records who has read and accepted them. Current options include ConvergePoint, DocTract, DynamicPolicy, Staff.Wiki, Diligent Policy Manager and LogicManager for general use, PowerDMS for public safety and healthcare, and RLDatix Policy Management (formerly PolicyStat) and Ntracts for hospitals. Four products from our original list of 15 no longer fit or could not be found, so this updated list has 11.

Policy Management Software

Policy management software is a web-based application that helps you write, organise, approve, distribute and update policy documents. It replaces shared drives and printed binders with a single, searchable library, and it proves to auditors and regulators that the right people have read the current version.

The need is sharpest in regulated sectors. In healthcare, for example, procedures change often, and hospitals must be able to show that every member of staff has read the latest policy. The same applies to police departments, banks, insurers and manufacturers.

We first published this list in 2020. In October 2026 we checked every product on its vendor’s own website. This version describes each tool from the vendor’s current documentation, notes acquisitions, and explains what happened to the products we dropped. We have not tested these products, and nothing here is a paid placement.

How to choose policy management software

  • Core lifecycle features: drafting and collaborative editing, approval workflows, version control with a full audit trail, scheduled review reminders, distribution to the right groups and electronic attestation (staff confirming they have read a policy).
  • Understanding, not just sign-off: quizzes or short training linked to key policies show that staff understood them.
  • Fit with your existing tools: some products run inside Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, others integrate with Word, Google Docs and single sign-on providers. Choose one that matches how your staff already work.
  • Industry content and standards: hospitals, police forces and banks have sector-specific accreditation and regulation. Specialist vendors map policies to those standards.
  • Standalone tool or wider risk platform: governance, risk and compliance (GRC) suites link policies to risks, controls and audits, which suits larger organisations; smaller teams may prefer a simpler standalone tool.

The 11 tools in detail

ConvergePoint

ConvergePoint sells policy, contract and compliance software built on Microsoft 365 SharePoint. Its policy module covers drafting, review and approval, a policy and procedure library, certification and acknowledgement, AI tools and e-signature integration. It also offers contract management, conflict-of-interest and gifts disclosures, and incident management. An earlier version of this article described ConvergePoint as a “contact management” tool; that was a typo for contract management.

LogicManager

LogicManager is enterprise risk management (ERM) software with a compliance policy management module. You can organise policies in a customisable hierarchy, record how often each must be reviewed, link policies to the people, processes and assets they cover, automate review notifications, assign attestations and questionnaires, and connect policies to the risks and controls they address.

Staff.Wiki

Staff.Wiki is a policy and procedure management system built as a secure wiki. It offers approval workflows with full change history, automated attestation, AI-generated quizzes for training, workflow-powered checklists to track procedures, incident reporting and risk management, plus free sample policies to start from. It can map policies to frameworks such as SOC 2, CMMC, GDPR and HIPAA, and an on-premise option is available.

PowerDMS

PowerDMS, now part of NEOGOV, is cloud software used mainly by law enforcement agencies, emergency communication centres and healthcare facilities. Its policy management lets an organisation release a revised policy to staff and require each person to sign off that they have read it. It also offers accreditation management, policy training and scheduling. PowerDMS says pricing depends on organisation size, products and integrations, and gives a quote after a demo. For accreditation-focused tools, see our list of accreditation management software.

Ntracts

The original list included PolicyManager, a policy tool for healthcare providers sold by MCN Healthcare. MCN Healthcare’s website now redirects to Ntracts, which sells contract management, compliance and policy software built specifically for health systems, hospitals, physician groups and community health centres. Ntracts says it sells on an enterprise subscription with custom pricing.

RLDatix Policy Management (formerly PolicyStat)

PolicyStat is now part of RLDatix, and policystat.com redirects to RLDatix’s policy management module. RLDatix describes it as healthcare policy management software (PolicyStat) for accessing, managing and integrating policies and procedures, with Lippincott clinical policies integrated. It sits within RLDatix’s RLD360 platform alongside credentialing, incident reporting and audit tools.

DynamicPolicy

DynamicPolicy is web software for managing policies and procedures. You can import existing documents or write new ones in a web editor or Microsoft Word, keep them in a central database, publish them to the right audience, track certification and acceptance with reminders, export reports to Excel, collaborate on drafts, use version control and add pop quizzes on critical policies.

Convercent (now part of EQS)

Convercent is an ethics and compliance platform. It was owned by OneTrust, and its website now says Convercent is part of EQS Group. The original article described modules for case management, learning, policies and conflicts of interest; current customers are directed to EQS for demos and new purchases.

DocTract

DocTract is cloud policy management software with AI features, search, automated workflows, version control and policy distribution. It integrates with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Docs, Okta and SCIM, and lists industry solutions from healthcare and education to government, law enforcement and manufacturing.

Diligent Policy Manager

Diligent, best known for board management software, sells Policy Manager as part of its governance, risk and compliance (GRC) platform. Diligent says it handles policy work from drafting to distribution and keeps every policy reviewed, approved and version-controlled for audits. The original article described a broader Diligent Compliance product; Policy Manager is the current dedicated policy tool.

Riskonnect (formerly Sword GRC)

Sword Policy Manager came from Sword GRC, which is now part of Riskonnect; Sword GRC’s website redirects to a Riskonnect page explaining the combination. Riskonnect’s integrated risk management platform includes compliance, policy management, internal controls, enterprise risk, audit and third-party risk modules.

Products removed from the original list

  • TravelPerk: a business travel booking and management platform, not policy management software. Its website now redirects to Perk, the company’s current name.
  • PolicyHub: the policyhub.com domain no longer resolves and the policyhub.co.uk domain is listed for sale.
  • PolicyBond: the policybond.com domain is listed for sale.
  • MyCompliance: we could not identify a current product under this name that matches the original description.

Policy approvals are a kind of workflow; for broader process automation, see our list of workflow management software.

Frequently asked questions

What is policy attestation?

Attestation is a recorded confirmation that a person has read and accepted a policy. Policy software sends the policy, tracks who has and has not attested, chases people who have not, and keeps the record for auditors.

Is policy management software the same as document management?

No. Document management stores files. Policy management adds the policy lifecycle: approval workflows, scheduled reviews, distribution, attestation and audit trails.

Can a small business use SharePoint or Google Drive instead?

For a few policies, a shared folder can work. It becomes hard to prove who read which version, or to remind people about annual reviews, as the number of staff and policies grows.

What happened to PolicyStat?

PolicyStat is now part of RLDatix. Its old website redirects to RLDatix’s healthcare policy management module, which still uses the PolicyStat name.

Checked in October 2026 against each vendor’s own website, including the redirects from policystat.com, mcnhealthcare.com, sword-grc.com and travelperk.com, the Convercent site’s notice about EQS, and the product pages of ConvergePoint, LogicManager, Staff.Wiki, PowerDMS, DynamicPolicy, DocTract and Diligent. Confirm features and pricing with the vendor before you buy.
