Quick answer: Plastic surgery practices usually need software for four jobs: patient records (EHR), scheduling and billing, before-and-after photos and consultations, and, for many, med spa sales and point of sale. Specialist options include Nextech, CosmetiSuite, Clinicea and AestheticsPro; FaceTouchUp handles surgical simulation; HST Pathways runs surgery centres; and general EHRs such as AdvancedMD, athenaOne, DrChrono, Sevocity and Epic also serve surgical practices. Four products from our original list of 15 could not be verified in October 2026, so this updated list has 11.

Cosmetic and reconstructive surgery practices handle a steady flow of consultations, procedures, follow-ups and photographs, and many also run a medical spa. That makes a specialist system more useful than a generic appointment book. This guide covers software for running a plastic surgery practice. It is not a guide to choosing a surgeon or a procedure.
We first published this list in 2020. In October 2026 we checked every product on its vendor’s own website. This version describes each product from the vendor’s current documentation, removes old prices, and explains which products we dropped. We have not tested these products, and nothing here is a paid placement. Most of the vendors sell mainly to US practices, so their compliance statements refer to the US Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
How to choose plastic surgery practice software
- Specialist or general EHR? Aesthetic-focused systems such as Nextech and CosmetiSuite include photo management, consultation tools and cosmetic packages. General EHRs may need add-ons for these.
- Photo management and consent. Before-and-after photos are central to the specialty. Check how photos are stored, who can see them, and how patient consent for clinical and marketing use is recorded.
- Cosmetic sales and inventory. If you sell injectables, packages or skincare, you need inventory tracking, point of sale and memberships, which med spa systems handle well.
- Surgery centre needs. If you run an ambulatory surgery centre (ASC), case scheduling, anaesthesia charting and supply costing call for dedicated ASC software.
- Local rules. HIPAA applies in the US. In India, patient data falls under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Ask any foreign vendor where data is stored.

Specialist aesthetic and surgical software
Nextech
Nextech builds software for specialty practices, with dedicated solutions for plastic surgery, dermatology, med spas, ophthalmology and orthopaedics. For plastic surgery it offers a Plastic Surgery EHR covering consultations, surgical planning and post-operative follow-up; Practice+ for scheduling, billing, reporting and intake; Nextech CRM for following up enquiries; TouchMD for visual consultations and AI-assisted photography; and integrated patient payments.
Clinicea
Clinicea is cloud clinic management software that lists solutions for plastic surgery, cosmetic dermatology, laser and other aesthetic specialities, as well as many other medical fields. Its features include EMR, scheduling, treatment packages, financials, lab and pharmacy modules, online booking, feedback collection, a patient portal, a mobile app and a cloud imaging tool for organising patient photos. The original article said Clinicea converts paper forms into digital case sheets that each doctor can customise, which still matches its EMR description.
HST Pathways
HST Pathways makes software for ambulatory surgery centres (ASCs), covering scheduling, billing and inventory, case costing, electronic charting, patient texting and pre-assessments, patient estimates and payments, and analytics. It is cloud-based and runs in a browser. HST says its software is HIPAA-compliant, that it signs business associate agreements, and that nine of its systems hold HITRUST r2 certification.
CosmetiSuite (Meditab)
CosmetiSuite is now sold by Meditab, and cosmetisuite.com redirects to Meditab’s site. Meditab describes it as an all-in-one EHR, practice management and billing system for plastic, cosmetic, dermatology, aesthetic and med spa practices, with inventory management and Meditab’s patient app, portal and telemedicine tools. The old starting price in the original article has been removed; ask Meditab for current pricing.
FaceTouchUp
FaceTouchUp is an AI plastic surgery simulator. A surgeon or patient uploads a photo and visualises possible results of procedures such as rhinoplasty, facelift or breast augmentation, which can help frame a consultation. It runs in a browser, includes cloud photo management and can be embedded on a practice website. FaceTouchUp says it is HIPAA compliant and used by surgeons at more than 500 practices. A simulation is an illustration, not a promise of a surgical result.
AestheticsPro
AestheticsPro is cloud software for medical spas. Its feature list covers client management, scheduling and online booking, electronic records and form building, e-prescribing, telemedicine, marketing, loyalty and reviews, point of sale and payments, staff and commission management, reporting, and AI agents for phone, text and website enquiries. AestheticsPro describes the platform as HIPAA-compliant.
General EHRs that serve surgical practices
AdvancedMD
AdvancedMD combines electronic health records, practice management, patient engagement, revenue cycle management and reporting, and lists surgery among the specialties it serves. It suits practices that want one US-based suite for clinical and business work.
athenaOne
athenaOne from athenahealth combines an EHR, practice management and billing, and patient engagement tools such as a portal and self-scheduling for ambulatory practices.
DrChrono
DrChrono, now operated by EverHealth, is a cloud EHR with scheduling, documentation, billing, a patient portal and telehealth, and has long marketed itself as a mobile-friendly EHR.
Sevocity
Sevocity is a cloud EHR for independent practices. Its Premier edition adds practice management, scheduling, billing, eligibility checks and revenue cycle tools. Sevocity emphasises unlimited custom templates, ambient AI charting powered by Suki, ONC certification and US-based support around the clock, every day of the year, which matches the original article’s description.
Epic
Epic Systems builds a single comprehensive health record used by hospitals and health systems, with the MyChart patient portal. The original article called it EpicCare. It is designed for large organisations rather than single-surgeon practices, and surgeons often use it through a hospital rather than buying it directly.
Products removed from the original list
- NHCircle: the nhcircle.com domain now shows an unrelated website.
- CureCast: the curecast.com domain is listed for sale, so this photo management app appears to have closed.
- Vincari: the vendor’s website could not be reached in October 2026 (it returned a security certificate error), so we could not confirm the product is still sold.
- Harmony: we could not identify which “Harmony” practice management product the original article meant, so we could not verify it.
For general practice systems, see our list of patient management software, and for reminders, intake and portals, our guide to patient engagement software.
Frequently asked questions
What software do plastic surgeons use?
Most practices use an EHR and practice management system for records, scheduling and billing, often a specialty system such as Nextech or CosmetiSuite. Many add photo and consultation tools, and those with a med spa add point-of-sale and membership software.
Is surgical simulation software accurate?
Simulation tools show an illustration of a possible change, not a guaranteed result. Your surgeon should explain realistic outcomes and risks for your own case.
What is ASC software?
ASC software runs an ambulatory surgery centre, where patients have procedures and go home the same day. It covers case scheduling, pre-assessment, clinical charting, supply costs and billing. HST Pathways on this list is an example.
Do I need a separate system for a med spa?
Not always. Some practice systems, such as Nextech and CosmetiSuite, cover med spa work. Dedicated tools such as AestheticsPro add retail, memberships, loyalty and staff commission features.
Checked in October 2026 against each vendor’s own website, including Nextech’s plastic surgery page, Meditab’s CosmetiSuite page and the product pages of Clinicea, HST Pathways, FaceTouchUp, AestheticsPro, Sevocity, Epic, AdvancedMD, athenahealth and DrChrono. Compliance claims are the vendors’ own. This guide is about practice software, not medical advice; confirm features and pricing with the vendor before you buy.
