What is ISKCON?
ISKCON stands for the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada founded it in New York City in July 1966. The main temple
The main shrine houses the deities of Radha Parthasarathi (Krishna as Arjuna’s charioteer, with Radharani), along with other altars. The arti ceremonies, with kirtan (devotional singing), are the best time to see the temple at its liveliest.
The Astounding Bhagavad Gita
The temple displays the Astounding Bhagavad Gita, which weighs over 800 kg and is described by the temple as the largest sacred printed book on earth. Glory of India Vedic Cultural Centre
The temple’s cultural centre has a multimedia Vedic museum and a 375-seat auditorium. Earlier visitors described exhibits such as an animatronic Bhagavad Gita show, a Mahabharata light-and-sound presentation and a Ramayana art gallery. Govinda’s restaurant
Govinda’s, the temple restaurant, serves pure vegetarian food for dine-in. In keeping with ISKCON practice the food is first offered to Krishna, and it is cooked without onion or garlic. Meal times are not published on the temple’s website, so check on arrival.
