The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) opened it on 26 December 1999 as part of the Kolkata Riverside Beautification Project. Landscaped lawns, river views and a clear sight of the Howrah Bridge make it a popular spot for an evening walk; there are also children’s rides, a food court and boat rides.

Rabindra Sarobar, still widely called Dhakuria Lake, is a man-made lake in south Kolkata. The lake and its surrounding green space cover about 192 acres, with about 11,000 trees, many of them more than 75 years old. Early morning and late afternoon are the quietest times for a walk along the water, and the lake is a well-known spot for birdwatching.

3. Eco Park (New Town)
Eco Park, also called Prakriti Tirtha, is a large urban park in New Town, Rajarhat, run by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO). According to its official site, it covers about 480 acres around a water body of about 100 acres with an island in the middle. Its themed areas include replicas of the Seven Wonders, a tropical rainforest, a Bengal village, a butterfly garden and a bamboo garden, and you can try activities such as kayaking, duo cycling and boating.

4. Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden (Howrah)
The Botanic Garden at Shibpur, Howrah, across the river from central Kolkata, was established in 1787 and is run by the Botanical Survey of India. It covers about 109 hectares (roughly 270 acres) and holds more than 12,000 plant specimens. Its most famous resident is the Great Banyan, often described as the largest tree in the world by spread, with a canopy circumference of more than 330 metres.

Fitzgerald, was completed in 1843. The Vidyasagar Setu bridge rises behind it, and the ghat is lit up in the evening, which makes it one of the most popular places in the city for couples. People stroll along the river, buy snacks from stalls and hire boats for a short ride, especially in the evenings and at weekends.

Inside are marble floors, sculptures, chandeliers, Victorian furniture and a collection of European paintings, including two by Peter Paul Rubens and two attributed to Joshua Reynolds.
