About Nicco Park

Nicco Park opened on 13 October 1991 on about 40 acres in Salt Lake (Bidhannagar). It is run by Nicco Parks and Resorts Limited, a joint-sector company formed by the National Insulated Cable Corporation (now Nicco Corporation) and the Government of West Bengal. It is often called the “Disneyland of West Bengal”.

The park is known for its safety and management certifications. It has held ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and OHSAS 18001 (safety) certificates, and in December 2008 it received SA 8000 certification for social accountability from DNV; it is reported to be the first amusement park in the world with SA 8000.

Correction: an earlier version of this article said Nicco Park had been running “for the last 20 years”. It opened in 1991, so it is now more than 35 years old. The earlier version also said the park runs on solar energy and causes no pollution; we could not confirm that, so it has been removed.

Rides at Nicco Park

The park has about 35 rides and attractions. The official website lists these, among others:

  • Family and dry-park rides: Toy Train, Family Carousel, Crazy Tea Party, Caterpillar, Octopus, Pirate Ship, Vortex, Moon Racker, Spider Wheel, Paddle Boat and the Water Merry-Go-Round.
  • Attractions: a Mirror Maze, the Eiffel Tower replica, which you can climb for a view over the park, and a decommissioned MiG-21 fighter aircraft. The MiG-21 came from Bagdogra and was given to the park by the Indian Air Force’s Eastern Air Command in 2008.
  • Thrill rides: the FAQ refers to rides such as Cyclone, Sky Diver and Skyloop, each with height or weight limits.
  • Children’s Corner: slides, swings and play equipment for small children.

As of October 2026, the official site says the Cyclone and the Lazy River are temporarily closed for maintenance. The earlier version of this article also described a River Caves boat ride, a 4D cinema, an “Oceanica” underwater exhibition and a haunted house; these are not on the current official list, so ask at the gate if they are running.

Height and weight limits

According to the park’s FAQ, children under 120 cm are not allowed on the Cyclone or Striking Cars, children under 140 cm cannot ride the Sky Diver, and the Skyloop has a maximum weight of 90 kg. Ticket rates are based on height rather than age.

Wet-O-Wild water park

Wet-O-Wild is the water park inside Nicco Park. The official site lists water rides such as Aqua Drop and Aqua Curl. The earlier version also described a wave pool, splash pool, rain dance, tube and body slides and a kiddies’ pool.

The water park has a strict dress code. The FAQ says swimwear must be made of Lycra or nylon, and sarees, denim, cargo trousers and cotton clothing are not allowed in the water. Swimwear can be hired for about ₹80 to ₹90 per item with a ₹120 refundable deposit, in cash only. Remove metal accessories and loose jewellery before you go in.

Nicco Super Bowl and food

  • Nicco Super Bowl: a bowling alley with other indoor games, open from 1 pm to 9 pm on weekdays and until 10 pm on weekends and holidays, according to the official site. Bowling prices were not listed, so check at the counter.
  • Food: outside food is not allowed, except baby food. Food is available at the Food Court (11 am to 8 pm), the Beach Cafe and Bowlers’ Den.
  • Lockers: the FAQ lists locker rental at ₹200 plus a ₹300 refundable deposit; keep your receipt.

How to reach Nicco Park
